Foundation Scholarship

Students applying for a foundation scholarship must complete this application and an Application for Admission. The priority deadline is February 15th (unless noted otherwise). Preference is given to Highland Campus, Technical and Western Center students. THE APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED FOR THE 2024-25 YEAR.  THE 2025-26 APPLICATIONS WILL OPEN FALL 2024. 

Scholarships marked with an asterisk (*) are for students planning to return to HCC this coming fall.

Scholarship Criteria
Antes Family Scholarship* Full-time student from KS, MO, or NE enrolled at the HCC Atchison Technical Center in Diesel Technology, Industrial Welding, or Construction Technology maintaining a minimum of 2.5 GPA. Application Deadline: April 15 
Arlyn Parish* HCC students with a minimum of 16 credit hours by the end of this spring semester and who are not eligible for federal financial aid. Application Deadline: April 9. 
Barbara Ann Derrick '64 Music or Theatre Majors
Bendena State Bank & Bank of Highland Doniphan West Graduate attending HCC. 
Bonnie Isernhagen Rush Memorial A student in good academic standing
Chris Holthaus '75 Memorial Established by Cathy Holthaus in memory of her husband, Chris who owned Holthaus Electric. First priority given to a veteran or non-traditional student from Nemaha County enrolled in Electrical Technology at the Tech Center in Atchison.
David & Marci Reist For students with an ACT composite score of 21 or higher, resident of local counties around Highland, Kansas majoring in secondary math, music education, or education. 
Don & Pat Loyd Memorial For Music or Agriculture Majors
Doniphan County Open House Established and funded by patrons of Doniphan County
Doug '83 & Connie Sterbenz Established by Doug and Connie Sterbenz for a Topeka Hayden High School or Topeka area student. 

Dr. Mary Ann Bowman Scholarship

Students must be enrolled full time in the Personal Fitness Trainer Program. Priority will be given to Native American Indian students.

Eli Phillip Whittaker Memorial Scholarship

Established to support students enrolled in CTE courses at the HCC Atchison Tech Center. 

Must be a full time student enrolled at the HCC Atchison Tech Center.

Emily Frakes 3.0 GPA
Erica Kirkendall '99 Memorial Scholarship This is a scholarship established by the HENS (a group of friends that attended HCC with Erica). This scholarship is for a volleyball or Art student.  
George Killian Memorial Established by Susan Myers for her father, George, who was the first executive director of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). He championed the first college athletic organization to sanction women's sports. For a member of the women's basketball team.

Helen L. Roland Memorial 

For HCC students enrolled full time and are a graduate of Doniphan West USD 111. 
Helen S. '39 & Ernest Lewis Memorial Doniphan County Resident; Education or Agriculture Majors
HCC Alumni Association* For a current HCC student; Chosen on HCC Legacy, HCC Academics, and HCC Involvement
James E. Thompson Memorial For a student pursuing a degree in physics or a science major
John '61 & Ruth Atwater Scholarship Established for Jackson County, Kansas, students pursuing a AA, AS, or AGS degree OR a technical program degree.  Must be a full time student.  Application Deadline: April 15
John M. & Maree M. Klinefelter Agriculture or Precision Agriculture Major

Jolie McDaniel Memorial 

Established by Adam McDaniel, family and friends to support students enrolled full time in CTE courses at the HCC Western Center in Baileyville, Kansas. Application Deadline is April 15.

Jones-Overlander Math, Economics, or Nursing Majors
Josh Boeppler Memorial Scholarship Established by the family and friends of Josh Boeppler, a graduate of the HCC Technical Center Diesel Technology Program, for students attending full time at the Atchison Tech Center in Diesel Technology.  

Ken '70 & Mary '70 McCauley Family Scholarship

Established by Ken '70 and Mary (Pauly) '70 McCauley; Agriculture or Precision Agriculture Major
Lane Memorial Established by Dennis and Mary Ann Bowman Arnold. First priority given to Native American Indian students enrolled in Automotive Technology or Automotive Collision Repair at the Technical Center in Atchison, Kansas. 
Oscar W. & Zayda V. Dahl For graduates of Horton High School to attend HCC
Parker-Lombard Memorial For deserving students
R.E. French Family Nursing/Medical or Business Majors, Citizen of the United States of America
Robert A. Reeder Memorial For graduates of Troy High School attending HCC in good academic standing
Tilson-Rogers For a student planning to transfer to Washburn University after HCC
Triplett Foundation 3.0 GPA; Activities, Community Service. The recipient must be a Scottie Ambassador for the Highland Campus Admissions Office. 
Urban & Anna E. Reese* For a current HCC student in good academic standing
Virginia Mann & Gary McDaniel '57 Family Established by Gary '57 and Virginia Mann McDaniel for students who graduate from USD 111 (Doniphan West) and are enrolled full time in a technical program.
Walter Byers Construction Technology, Practical Nursing, or Industrial Welding majors at the Technical Center in Atchison, Kansas
William T. '41 & Ann Lee '40 Noll For students majoring in music or showing a financial need

Antes Family Scholarship finalists are required to do a two minute video sharing about the student, their activities and plans, and how this scholarship will benefit the student if chosen. The HCC Technical Center Staff will assist with the video portion of the application if selected as a finalist.  

Arlyn Parish applicants also require two written references. One reference is to be from a Highland campus staff member (instructor, supervisor, coach, advisor, or sponsor). The other reference is to be from someone off-campus (former high school instructor, supervisor, coach, employer, etc). Email references to Jeff Hurn at jhurn@highlandcc.edu.
