Welcome to the Highland Community College Klinefelter Farm
A LIVING CLASSROOM
The Klinefelter Farm is owned and operated by Highland Community College and the HCC Foundation. This beautiful 480-acre farm was a gift to the college from John M. Klinefelter whose family owned the farm for nearly 130 years. John’s sister Gloria Klinefelter Plamann also bequeathed a generous sum to help restore the Klinefelter Barn.
The farm is a host for numerous events and activities which benefit not only HCC students but also our extended community in Northeast Kansas. The farm is a registered Kansas Agri-tourism Site, a member of the Kansas Trails Council, The Kansas Native Plant Society, a Friend of Scouting, and participates in the Kansas Adopt-a-Highway Program.
Staff members welcome visitors on weekdays, generally from 8 am - 5 pm and on weekends by appointment. Since this is a working commercial farm in addition to having many other projects and activities, it is best to call in advance to be sure staff is available when you want to visit. We will gladly adjust our work schedules to accommodate your visit.
It is situated two miles east of Hiawatha, KS, just off the Mulberry Rd. exit on U.S. 36 Highway. The farm’s main entrance and headquarters are located 2/3 mile east of the Mulberry Rd. the corner at 1774 230th St. Look for our directional sign at the Mulberry/230th corner by the tower.
