The Highland Community College women’s basketball team was behind for the first time this season as the University of St. Mary jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the early going Tuesday night. From that point, the Scotties went on 50-8 run to lead at the half 52-14. The Scotties never looked back from that point as they went on to win 89-47 and started the young season 3-0.
“I thought our first half effort was good, but defensively, we are a long way from being where we need to be,” stated head coach BJ Smith.
The Scotties will play Cowley College on Saturday, November 9, at 2:00 pm in Allen Field House. “Cowley was picked to win the Jayhawk east and is currently 2-0, so it will be a big test for our young team,” said Smith.
