Are you a budding enthusiast with a passion for all things grapes and wine? Look no further than the Highland Community College Viticulture and Enology program! This educational journey is tailor-made for individuals who dream of immersing themselves in the grape growing and winemaking industry. The fall semester introduces you to the fundamentals of vineyard and winery production, a stepping stone towards achieving Cert A. This initial phase lays the foundation for a fulfilling journey in the viticulture and enology industry. In the spring, the program evolves to provide a more profound understanding of vineyard and winery production.
As a graduate, you'll emerge with a versatile skill set, primed for roles as vineyard and winery technicians, ready to contribute to this ever-evolving industry. Embark on a transformative journey through the HCC Viticulture and Enology program. Uncover the artistry behind every sip, and unlock a world of possibilities in grape growing and winemaking. Join us in shaping the future of the industry, one vine and one bottle at a time.
Beginning in Spring 2023, HCC V&E courses have gone hybrid! That is, students have the option of attending class in person in Wamego, KS, or students can attend class virtually via Zoom. Of course, students can't learn how to make wine without having purple fingers at least once, so every course has a one-day capstone class which is required to attend in person.
Check out the Highland Wine page for the more information on our vineyard and winery teaching facility, Highland Winery, workshops and class times, and 456 Wineries business incubator.
